Professional Work
After earning my B.A in Anthropology, I became trained as an English language teacher. I taught English, Math, and Science for three years in international classrooms across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Upon earning my M.A. in Education and Human Development, I started my career as an Education in Emergencies practitioner. I have worked in a variety of geographical regions, serving in: coordination, research, program management, project director, technical advisor, and sector-lead roles. This includes: supporting earthquake relief in Nepal; leading the national education sector response for the Syrian refugee crisis in Greece; directing education programming for Burundian and Congolese refugees in Tanzania; and leading on research, monitoring, and evaluation for a large-scale refugee education initiative across Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda. I have worked for, partnered with, and been trained by: large international NGOs; small NGOs; UN agencies; bi-lateral, multi-lateral, and private donors; and national and local government ministries and departments. In my professional work, I endeavor to contribute to efforts to decolonize the Education in Emergencies field.
